Industry background According to incomplete statistics from the CESA Energy Storage Application Branch Industry Database, in the first half of 2024, the domestic new energy storage installed capacity increased by 12.9GW/31.24GWh, and the capacity scale increased by 98% year-on-year. In June, the new energy storage grid-connected reached 5.2GW/11.37GWh, and the capacity scale increased by 159% month-on-month, setting a new monthly grid-connected record. The scale of user-side energy storage doubled, concentrated in the three provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Guangdong. According to incomplete statistics, 69 new user-side energy storage projects were added in June 2024, with an energy storage scale of 160.437MW/308.758MWh, which doubled from the scale in June. As shown in the figure, the projects are mainly concentrated in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Guangdong, mainly in micro-small industrial and commercial energy storage projects. In July, except for Qinghai, Yunnan, Guangxi, Guizhou and Gansu, all other provinces began to implement peak electricity prices, and the peak-valley price difference in many regions exceeded 1 yuan/kWh. Among them, according to the newly demarcated time-sharing period in Zhejiang, owners who configure industrial and commercial energy storage can realize two charging and two discharging of two peak-valley price differences. Under the condition that the voltage level is less than 1 kV, when the general industrial and commercial single system 1.5 times electricity purchase is implemented, the peak-valley price difference reaches 1.2768 yuan/kWh; its single system industrial and commercial electricity purchase peak-valley price difference exceeds 0.983 yuan/kWh.
